I agree with Jenny Wheeler, Fight for cancer drug (Oxford Mail, June 12). Recently new drugs for cancer of breast, bowel and prostate have been introduced.
They work by depriving the tumour of nutrients - oxygen and blood supply.
Few patients are prescribed them. Is it decided on a financial basis?
It must be devastating to be diagnosed with a potentially terminal illness and doubly so to be refused a drug which is a cure or, maybe, can extend your life.
Secondly, patients who are not deemed suitable to receive drug therapy - for example, Sunitinib - often pay for it themselves.
Labour's policy is denying them the right to pay for the extra drugs by withdrawing their free NHS care and support.
This is a harsh action.
Perhaps our MPs would wish to investigate the situation.
