An HGV driver accused of causing the death of a cyclist today denied knowing he had been involved a collision or that he threw the victim's possessions into a field.
Andrew Stubbs, 40, told Leeds Crown Court he stopped in a layby in Ossett, Wakefield, in West Yorkshire, after the incident which killed Anthony Spink.
Stubbs, of George Street, in Bicester, is accused of crushing Mr Spink, 41, and then driving off with his bicycle wedged under the vehicle.
But he insisted he did not hear Mr Spink banging on his cab, and did not notice other motorists alerting him to what had happened.
Prosecutor Patrick Palmer asked: "You heard the noise, you had seen the collision with the cyclist, hadn't you?"
Stubbs replied: "No."
The jury is due to retire to consider its verdict tomorrow.
