A shop worker has been allegedly assaulted by two men after chasing down a woman who left the shop without paying.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses and CCTV footage following the assault, which took place at around 7.45pm on Sunday, August 6 in Corn Street in Witney.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: “A woman has failed to pay for her shopping and exited the shop towards Market Square.

“The shop worker followed her, asking for payment, but was then approached by two men who have assaulted him.

"The victim fell to the ground during the attack and sustained a laceration to his lip.”

Investigating officer, PC Thomas Horsman based at Witney Police Station, said: “We would like to appeal to anybody who may have witnessed this incident to please get in touch.

“We would also like to appeal to those residents in the surrounding areas to check CCTV and door cam footage. You can upload footage via the link at the end of this appeal."

Thames Valley Police’s Rural Crime Task Force seized a car at around 1am yesterday (August 7) in Minster Lovell, near Witney.
