Members of the Oxford Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament remembered those who died in the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki 78 years ago.

The group gather at Bonn Square in Oxford on Sunday and called on the government to reconsider signing the International Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapon.

The atomic bombing of Hiroshima destroyed the city and killed 140,000 people at the end of World War Two.

The US dropped a second bomb three days later on Nagasaki, killing another 70,000, causing Japan to surrender on August 15, 1945.

Many survivors of the bombings have lasting injuries and illnesses resulting from the explosions and radiation exposure and have faced discrimination in Japan.
