An Oxfordshire festival is set to have its debut weekend after being rained off earlier this year.

The Alvestock Music Festival was due to take place for the first time in July but it was postponed after severe wind speed and yellow weather warning from the Met Office

The music festival will now take place on September 23 and 24 with new acts as well as new food vendors.

On Saturday, music will be performed by Keith Fairbairn’s Cubano Soul band, Emily Avery, Doctor Robert, The Original Coffindodgers, Libby T, Four Times Indie, finishing with headline act, The Entitled Sons, who debuted at Glastonbury this year.

On Sunday, music will be from The Sundance, Gala Tent Band, The Kokroachez, Bob Bowls with the weekend being rounded off by Hope and Glory.

Alongside the music, there will be a selection of activities like face painting, hair braiding and massage treatments as well as food stalls and bars, including Wood’s Gin, and Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone Brewery.

Alvestock is a not-for-profit event that will raise funds for repairs and conservation for St Peter’s Church which had major problems discovered with the roof beams a year ago forcing it to close.

St Peter’s Church is nearly a thousand years old and is a Grade II listed National Heritage beloved as a community centre for all the village.

The festival is one of many projects and events organised to raise funds for the restoration.
