Banbury historian and founder member of Banbury Historical Society Jeremy Gibson has been presented with a national award as recognition of his contribution to local history.
Mr Gibson, of Church Hanborough, near Woodstock, has written numerous articles and journals, including the Gibson Guide, a series of pocket directories covering the whole country.
He was given his award at the annual British Association for Local History awards, which honours those who have made a significant contribution to local history.
Mr Gibson said the historical society and Gibson Guides had been a team effort.
He said: "It was very gratifying to be there for all the work everyone put in either for Banbury or the Gibson Guide.
"It has not been a lone effort by any means."
