Green charity Friends of the Earth is calling on north Oxfordshire's MP to push for environmental laws to be toughened.
Tony Baldry is one of a select group of 21 cross-party MPs who will play a key role in scrutinising the Government's new climate change law.
Now the group wants Mr Baldry to use his position to strengthen the law and ensure the UK plays its part in meeting the challenge of climate change.
Friends of the Earth wants to see UK carbon dioxide emissions reduce by 80 per cent by 2050, including all sources such as aviation and shipping.
Spokesman Martyn Williams said: "Tony Baldry now has a major say in whether the world's first climate change law will be tough enough to deliver the cuts scientists tell us are required.
"Many people in the region and a large number of MPs support calls for a stronger law."
MPs are due to debate the issue in July.
