From cannabis farmers to pug-throwing ex-partners - here were some of the criminals jailed at Oxford Crown Court in July.
Mihai Hurmuz-Irimia
After stabbing his wife more than 170 times at their Wallingford home, Mihai Hurmuz-Irimia phoned the police and told the operator: “Hello, I think I killed my wife.”
The 29-year-old, who was said to be ‘resentful’ of attempts by 40-year-old Katie to make him stop drinking, severed her carotid artery and jugular vein in the brutal attack on August 30 last year.
Following a week-long trial at Oxford Crown Court, he was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum to serve of 21 years.
Jarrett Good
Jarrett Good, who raped a sleeping teenager on the morning of December 29, 2019, was found guilty of a single rape charge earlier this month.
The 22-year-old, who lived near Bicester, was sentenced to 42 months, or three-and-a-half years, in jail by Judge Michael Gledhill KC on July 6.
Welcoming the sentence, DC Sam Hunter of Thames Valley Police commended the victim’s bravery and said Good had been “brought to justice”.
Dudley Stein
After throwing his ex's ‘snoring’ pet pug out a first floor window, Dudley Stein told the woman her dog was ‘probably dead’ and added: “I wish it were you.”
The dog, Borris, survived the fall.
But 30-year-old Stein, a repeat domestic abuser, was given more than 16 months for attempted criminal damage against the animal, as well as for breaching restraining orders.
Shklqim Marku
Shklqim Marku, 33, tried to hide in a bush when police officers raided the Abingdon ‘cannabis factory’ where he worked in May this year.
Officers said the property was “filled to the brim with mature cannabis plants” with around 300 growing under lights and industrial fans.
Marku, who left his homeland Albania aged 15, was jailed for eight months and fined £402.
David Ruddick
Child rapist David Ruddick, who paid his victims for ‘sexual acts’, plied them with alcohol and showed them pornography, was jailed for 12 years.
The three girls who were abused by the now 57-year-old in Banbury were described as “devastated” by prosecutor Edward Lucas as they penned impact statements.
Mitigating, Andrew Wilkins said Ruddick thought he was “strengthening bonds” with his victims, which Judge Ian Pringle KC dismissed as “utterly unacceptable”.
Elliott Harper
Elliott Harper walked into a beauty store in Oxford, told staff: “I will take what I f***ing want”, and made off with hair straighteners and crimpers.
The stolen items were worth hundreds of pounds.
As he left, the 28-year-old echoed the words made famous by strongman Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Terminator, saying to staff: “I’ll be back.”
Harper, also responsible for a raft of other thefts, was jailed for nine months.
