I am sure the residents of Oxford who have had their properties flooded three times in seven years were reasured by your article, Growers get a rebate on rent (Oxford Mail, June 19).
As equipment was destroyed by the 2007 flood, it is only right that it should be replaced.
But the article stated that over the last three years, £449,000 had been spent by the council on allotments and according to council leader Bob Price, another £40,000 may be spent.
It is nice to know that the council has its priorities right.
How much has the council spent on protecting properties from flooding?
In Earl Street, nine homes are still empty after the 2007 flood and as one of the allotment holders said: "It's been a nightmare for plot holders over the past year".
Well, it hasn't actually been a bundle of laughs in Earl Street, Duke Street, Bulstake Close, Botley Road, Osney Island, Vicarage Road and South Hinksey.
So maybe the council would like to tell us residents affected by the floods when we can expect something to be done.
