Firefighters stressed the importance of having working smoke alarms after residents were evacuated when a blaze broke out caused by a faulty fridge freezer.
Red Watch and the on-call crew from Abingdon Fire Station were called to the fire at a property on Daisy Bank in Abingdon at around 11pm last night (July 27).
A team of two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the kitchen and extinguished the fire using a high pressure hose reel.
Watch manager Christian Orr said: "The fire is believed to have started in the fridge freezer and spread quickly to the rest of the kitchen, but thanks to working smoke alarms, the residents were able to safely evacuate the property without injury."
