Plans to expand a health centre in Abingdon have been lodged with the council amid fears over "GP numbers falling".

An application to expand Marcham Road Family Health Centre has been sent to the Vale of White Horse District Council.

The application proposes a single storey expansion at the rear of the health centre which would accommodate eight additional consultation rooms for general practice examinations.

Abingdon North councillor Dr Nathan Ley said: “At a time when GP numbers are falling and health services are being run into the ground nationally by the central government, this is a positive local development and I’m fully supportive of this application to extend and provide greater GP capacity locally.”
