A conservation area review for the future use and management of RAF Bicester is under way.
The Second World War site, the best preserved pre-1945 bomber airfield in the country according to English Heritage, is leased to Windrush Gliding Club.
But the future of the site is uncertain as the flying field and technical site are surplus to Ministry of Defence requirements, and the Defence Clothing and Textile Agency, which occupies the rest of the base, is being reorganised.
Cherwell District Council has mounted an exhibition at Bicester Library to publicise the appraisal. The exhibition can be viewed during library opening hours until a week tomorrowsat july 5.
A public meeting about the site will take place at Bicester Town Council's offices on Wednesday, at The Garth, in Launton Road.
Michael Gibbard, executive member for planning and housing, said: " We have a duty to ensure that the site is preserved properly and any new uses enhance its special quality."
