There are a number of wines from outside Italy that can go well with pasta, but somehow Italian wines just work that little bit better when it comes to finding the perfect partner to this classic dish, which comes in so many different forms.
After all, these wines are meant to go with food. What more perfect choice than pasta?
The Wines for Pasta mixed case costs £70 and includes three bottles each of the following four wines.
Inzolia, Terra Firma 2006: Inzolia is a grape variety from Sicily which produces fragrant aromas of peaches and limes, along with crisp citrus fruit flavours that are a great match for seafood pasta dishes.
Orvieto Trappolini 2006: This classic Orvieto made from a mix of classic Italian grape varieties has subtle flavours of pears and apple blossom and is a perfect match with fish dishes and tuna pasta.
Nero d'Avola 2006: This wine's soft, rich, red berry fruit make it a real success with meatballs as well as semi-spicy pasta and parmesan dishes.
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colle Morino, Barba 2006: Supple and smooth wine with complex flavours of black cherries, violets and red berry fruit - a great match with many pasta dishes from vegetables to Bolognese.
