Speed surveys have found 'good compliance' with the 50mph limits on a main road in South Oxfordshire despite villagers warning it was a 'ticking time bomb' for accidents.
Oxfordshire County Council ordered two surveys of the stretch of A4130 that runs through Brightwell-cum-Sotwell following a spate of collisions in April.
Cyclists, walkers and horseriders in the village have been calling for a speed reduction on the stretch of road for years with concerns over speeding traffic.

But the surveys, which took place in June, apparently found no such issues.
A council spokesman said: "The speed surveys have been completed and showed good compliance with the existing 50mph limits.
"Officers will now liaise with road safety colleagues and Thames Valley Police to seek their views about whether it would be appropriate to look at lowering the limit to 40mph."
