Toyota's success in the recent JD Power satisfaction survey has sparked an upsurge in demand for the firm's top-scoring Prius, according to the UK's largest car hypermarket chain, Carcraft.

Carcraft reports that demand immediately after the early-May publication of the report led to a temporary shortage of the Prius, with many customers requesting to be placed on a fast-growing waiting list.

The firm says stocks have now been replenished, but predicts more shortages if the current rate of demand continues.
