Sir - Could there be a conflict of interest over the Weston-Otmoor eco-town? How much is the MoD land worth? How much more is it worth with planning permission for housing? How tight are Government finances? How unsuitable is the site?
If I were a Minister of Housing, attending cabinet, I would feel obliged to declare that interest and withdraw from the public debate.
An article in The Daily Telegraph (posted on their website on May 24, 2008) suggests that at least seven of the 15 eco-town sites on the shortlist include MoD land. I do not like what I'm thinking. Make it go away!
