An Oxfordshire town’s first-ever Pride March took to the streets on Saturday.

Revellers were seen waving rainbow flags on the streets of Chipping Norton as a day of celebrations kicked off at 11am.

There were colourful scenes across the town as local shops and businesses decorated their windows in rainbow colours while the Town Hall staged a day of live music and performers.

‘Queen of Drag’ Lady B hosted the momentous occasion organised by Chipping Norton Town Council in association with Got2B youth group.

Mr Akers said: "Love is love. I have always supported the LBGTQ+ community and stand in solidarity with Pride events all over the UK and around the world.

"That is why I am so proud that the town council is fully backing Chippy's first-ever Pride.

"Pride is about love. Pride is about tolerance. Pride is about respect. But above all Pride is about unity and celebration!

"There are those who will always seek to divide and rule us - gay from straight, black from white, women from men. They sow hatred and division.

"Today we come together as a community in unity to stand against such hatred. To stand for love over hate."
