Abba, nuns and Phillip Schofield were among the crazy costumes cheered by crowds of enthusiastic onlookers at the annual Eynsham Carnival parade.

Celebrating its 75th year this year's main attractions included Titan the Robot’s comedic antics as well as outside stalls and craft fair, arena acts, fun fair and live music.

The village was buzzing as the entries for the 64th madcap shirt race were judged in the lay-by in Witney Road before entrants tore off around the centre of the village.

This year's carnival theme was hats from the homemade and something you have in the cupboard to extravagant headpieces, with 50 medals given on the field to those wearing excellent headwear by mystery judges.

A mass "hats off" moment closed the day.

The family-orientated carnival is a village institution - bringing traffic to a standstill on the first Saturday in July.

Organisers said: "YEEESSS Eynsham! What a fantastic day, thanks to so many for turning up and making this 75th carnival an absolute cracker!

"Huge thanks too to all the volunteers and our sponsors, without whom we could not hold this event."
