Staff at Blenheim Palace have apologised for the severe congestion that saw some visitors waiting more than an hour to get into the annual flower show.

Managing director Heather Carter said lessons had been learned and signage and access have now been improved.

She told the BBC: "We did react quite quickly. The roads were clear by about 12.30 and I don't think the traffic really started til 10, 10.30, as people arrived and the show opened.

"So we narrowed the gap as much as we possibly could."

The show, which is its 10th anniversary year, runs all weekend.

Over the past decade it has grown in both size and popularity, attracting thousands of visitors year on year.

This year sees the return of the magnificent Grand Floral Pavilion, as well as incredible outdoor floral displays in Floral Street.

New for 2023, is the Insect Trail around the show where florists, flower arrangers, students and artists have designed, built, and created large-scale insects made from natural materials and flowers.

The Oxfordshire Beekeepers Association will also be giving live hive demonstrations with the chance for the public to ask questions and learn more about the importance of bees and pollination.

There will be talks and demonstrations from gardening experts, food and drink, homeware and crafts, plus live music.

The Blenheim Palace Flower Show will run from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June. Free parking will be available for all visitors to the show. Tickets at www.blenheimflowershow.co.uk
