Five schools in Oxfordshire have been forced to close due to flooding and inclement weather. 

Torrential rainfall and thunderstorms have been experienced across Oxfordshire this morning and this has led to school closures.

Three of the schools fully closed due to flooding issues. 

The following three schools closed due to flooding, Fringford Church of England Primary School and Kings Meadow Primary School, both in Bicester, and Stockham Primary School in Wantage.

St Francis Church of England Primary School in Oxford is partly closed due to the flooding, with reception and year one classes cancelled.

Woodeaton Manor School near Oxford has been forced to close due to problems with its electricity supply.

Power cuts have been experienced across the county, with many in Abingdon still waiting for power to be restored to their homes.

Last night in Abingdon, eyewitnesses heard a loud bang and saw smoke which is believed to have come from an electric substation between Parsons Mead and Farm Road in Abingdon.

Three fire engines were reported at the scene and power was temporarily lost for many residents.
