Eyewitnesses heard a large bang and saw black smoke over Abingdon at around 9pm this evening (June 19).
A large power cut has also been reported by multiple people in and around the area north of the town.
The incident is said to have originated from an electric substation between Parsons Mead and Farm Road in Abingdon.

Three fire engines are reported to be on scene.
Engineers from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are on site and are restoring power.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for comment.
It comes as Appleton near Abingdon was hit with a power cut on Monday morning.
This resulted in Appleton Church of England Primary School being closed for the day.
