Villagers have accused Thames Water of setting up a game of ‘car Russian roulette’ after the company put a lane closure in place on a blind bend.
The water company has been carrying out works on Reading Road in Goring-on-Thames in south Oxfordshire since Friday (June 16).
Signs suggest that the road is closed but one lane is still open to traffic which has caused confusion among motorists.

No temporary traffic lights have been put in place.
One Reading Road resident, who wished to remain anonymous said: “We need to access our properties but with no instructions on how to do this, we are being forced to weave our way around the works.
“The bend is dangerous at the best of times but now its like playing a game of car Russian roulette out there.
“You go blindly around the corner with the expectation of meeting another vehicle doing the same thing in the opposite direction.
“It’s only a matter of time before there is an accident and someone gets hurt.”
No contractors have been seen at the site since the closure was put in place on Friday.
Resident Becca Mackenzie said: “No one was told anything but it needs to be properly managed.
“You can’t see around the corner and you definitely can’t see others coming.
“People are either driving straight through the closure or they are making a U-turn in the middle of the road.

“It is just causing confusion.”
Thames Water has apologised for the inconvience caused by the closure.
A spokeswoman said: "We set up a lane closure along Reading Road in Goring on Saturday 17 June to repair a broken fire hydrant lid.
"The repair was completed the same day and the reinstatement is expected to be completed tomorrow on Tuesday 20 June.
"We always look to minimise disruption whilst we carry out our repair works and are sorry for any inconvenience to residents and motorists during this time.”
