A retired couple from Kidlington feel ‘disgusted’ after their holiday plans to North Yorkshire were ‘ruined’ by a travel company.
David Myers and his wife booked to go on a seven-day coach tour to Scarborough with Shearings Travel.
They planned to stay at the Norbreck Hotel in the seaside resort and to visit other sights in the area.

But on May 5, the travel company unexpectedly changed their hotel to a different one in Whitby, a 40 minutes’ drive from where they were supposed to be staying.
Shearings blamed this on the Norbreck Hotel being ‘temporarily closed due to a private contract.’
Mr Myers has been offered a 50 per cent refund if he were to cancel the holiday.
He said: “No apology was given in the email from Shearings for a change of hotel at such short notice.
“The change of hotel is located in a different town and resort which has upset our holiday plans and no new itinerary for this coaching holiday to date.”

He added: “I am disgusted by the way that we have been treated.
“Either we cancel and lose money, or we go on a holiday we hadn’t planned.
“I would be very reluctant to travel with Shearings again.”
Mr Myers contacted the Citizens Advice Bureau who offer information on a variety of questions that UK residents may have.

He said that the bureau advised him that by not offering the couple a full refund, Shearings was in breach of its contractual obligations under The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018.
The travel company has maintained that they are not in violation of these regulations.
Shearings has so far failed to respond when contacted for comment.
