Oxford United and Thames Travel have agreed to renew their partnership, which means the 'Football Special' match day services will continue next season.

The Football Special bus services provide a crucial link to the Kassam Stadium for football supporters from across Oxfordshire.

Football fans will benefit from affordable fares, as Thames Travel has confirmed that the special services will be covered by the Government's £2 bus fare cap scheme.

The scheme has been extended October 31, after which time it will increase to £2.50 for a further 13 months.

Thames Travel will continue to provide its OX2, OX3, and OX7 services for all home league games, as well as additional services for selected cup games.

The OX2 runs from Didcot and stops in Great Western Park, Steventon, Drayton, and Abingdon. The OX3 and OX7 services bring supporters to and from United home games in Witney, Carterton, Brize Norton, Curbridge, Witney, Eynsham, Botley, Kidlington, Summertown, Marston, Cowley, and Headington.

Additionally, Oxford Bus Company’s city3A service serves Kassam Stadium via a bus stop on Grenoble Road. The service operates every 30 minutes, serving Iffley Road, Rose Hill, Oxford Science Park, Littlemore, Greater Leys, Blackbird Leys, and Cowley.

Oxford Mail: Oxford United fans

Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel managing director Luke Marion said: “We are proud to be renewing our partnership with Oxford United after another successful season.

"The Football Special services are an important community asset and allow supporters to attend matches and support their local club safely while tackling congestion and carbon emissions.

“Many of us are feeling the pinch financially at this difficult time. I can confirm that supporters will continue to benefit from the Government’s £2 fare cap on the Football Special buses, in line with all other Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel services.

“Our cooperation with Oxford United has gone from strength to strength in recent years, meaning we can serve fans from the city centre and all four corners of the county.”

Child fares will be half the price of adult fares.
