Children were given the chance to learn about blindness and the effects of the sun on the eyes in a day of events at an Oxford primary school.
Pupils from St Aloysius' School, in Woodstock Road, wore sunglasses and sun hats as part of Shades Day on Friday.
The day was to help promote the work of Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and understanding of the difficulties faced every day by blind and partially sighted people.
Organiser Clare Goodson, said: "It was a great day and the children have learnt a lot about the effects of blindness and how they can protect their eyes from the sun.
The children also got to meet Jolly, the 11-month-old Labrador Retriever, who is training to be a guide dog.
Pupil Ella Wingyoung, six, said: "It has been really good fun. I liked meeting Jolly and we have learnt that it is not good to look at the sun and that you have to look after your eyes."
