A brand-new Lego Millennium Falcon was donated to an Oxfordshire library to ‘rescue the disappointment’ of children who found the previous set had lost too many pieces.
Friends of Grove Library bought the plastic construction toy – which can be built into Han Solo’s famous spaceship from the Star Wars movies – for the library’s Lego Club.
It replaces the library’s original Lego set, which children had spent several weeks building only to find too many pieces missing to finish the job.

Library manager Kathryn Leech said: “This is a marvellous gift for the Lego Club and rescues the disappointment the children felt when realising, after several weeks of work, that the donated Lego sadly had too many pieces missing to build the Falcon.
“If any more children would like to join the club, please ask in the library. I would also say a massive thanks to the Friends group for their continued and generous support.”

The Lego club meets from 4pm to 5pm twice a month – on the first and third Monday – at the library next to Millbrook Primary School in the village near Wantage.
It is open to children from school years five and six and there is space for more members.
The Friends group is also looking for new members, and is keen to recruit villagers to serve on its committee to contribute their talent and expertise.
