Hinksey Outdoor Pool is set to open in mid-June, its operators revealed today (June 1).

The opening date has been confirmed by Fusion Lifestyle as Monday, June 12.

This comes following the completion of work to install a new £132,000 pool liner in late May.

A new heat pump was also purchased last year by Oxford City Council to secure the long-term future of the pool.

The city council had initially stated the relining would be carried out in dry weather which would be completed ready for an opening at the end of April.

However, this was delayed due to "unusually wet weather".

Councillor Chewe Munkonge, cabinet member for leisure and parks, said: "We’re really pleased to be able to give a date the pool is now expected to open, on June 12.

“We’ve invested in the long-term future of the pool this year, thank you to all the pool users for their patience with these works.

“We hope you’ll agree that making the pool fit for years to come is worth a little wait this year.”

But Hinksey Splash Park will remain shut all summer due to ongoing safety concerns.

The condition of the play surface and fountains at Hinksey Splash Park has been deemed unsafe for children to use by Oxford City Council.

According to the council, the foundations at the park have become unreliable, and damage to the play surface and concrete base means the site now risks children getting injured.

Hinksey Outdoor Pool is run by Fusion Lifestyle on behalf of Oxford City Council.

Online booking for sessions from June 12 onwards at the pool will be available to purchase from June 6.

People are advised to book on the Fusion Lifestyle app or via the Fusion website.

Season tickets will also be available for purchase from June 6 onwards.

Fusion Lifestyle are currently recruiting permanent staff, including team leaders and lifeguard positions for the summer season at Hinksey, and nearby Fusion Leisure Centres.
