A £5.4m green' headquarters building is going up at Howbery Park in Wallingford. It is the second highly-sustainable office building at the park and will be opposite the award-winning Red Kite House, mirroring the Environment Agency's building in design, and featuring similar environmental features.
The new 40,752 sq ft building has been designed by architects Scott Brownrigg to achieve a BREEAM excellent rating, making Howbery Park one of the only business parks in the UK to house two buildings with this rating.
The sustainable initiatives include bore-hole water to cool the building through chilled beams and a rainwater harvesting system to collect and re-use water.
In addition, the building's car park has a sustainable drainage system, which enables rainwater to soak through the car park's surface allowing it to be returned to the water table.
With over 20 tenants and specialising in life sciences, technology and the environment, Howbery Park continues to grow in size.
The development of this new headquarters building will leave outline planning consent at the park for a further 110,000 sq ft of B1 offices, available by way of pre-leasing from 12,000 sq ft upwards.
