Kidlington resident Dale Townsend has written a letter saying it is time to embrace Oxford United's plan to move to The Triangle - for the sake of the younger generation.
It's with dismay I see the stoked-up fear and truth massaging from those who oppose the stadium project in The Triangle near Kidlington.
On looking at those negative voices I see a lack of diversity in age.

It seems local older folk have been wound up by elements such as the Friends of Stratfield Brake, an organisation set up outside Kidlington to dictate to those in Kidlington what they should or shouldn’t strive to.
I get that our older residents fear change and the idea of a huge stadium may give them jitters, especially after some of the quite appalling factual inaccuracies listed by the FOSB (Friends of Stratfield Brake) group.
I see the demographics of those raising negative sentiment, but this project is to bring job opportunities and happiness to the community for 150 years.
We put so much pressure on our young people - you must not fly, you must no use too much power, you must not travel so far, all while the older generation flew at whim, drove where we wanted and used our planets resources without a care.
How bad is it that we also tell our young people that they can’t have facilities to bring enjoyment on their doorstep, because we are worried about traffic or noise and claim to be better than those who currently live with little negativity around football stadiums across the country.
Why does Oxford consistently fail its younger generation because the older generation fears what will happen once it is gone?
It’s time for us to support our futures in a sustainable way, embrace the project and help Oxfordshire embark on a new future.
