Two men have appeared in court accused of laundering hundreds of thousands of pounds allegedly earned from a romance fraud.
Isaac Addaih, 30, of Aldbury Court, Great Holm, and Paolo Antwi, 29, of Torre Close, Bletchley, have been charged with converting criminal property by means of bank transactions and cash withdrawals.
Charges laid at the magistrates’ court last month state that Antwi is accused of ‘converting’ £520,738 between 2018 and 2021. His co-defendant is accused of converting £897,451 over the same period.
The money is alleged to be the proceeds of a romance fraud.
Appearing before Oxford Crown Court on Thursday (May 11), neither man was asked to enter a plea. Judge Ian Pringle KC bailed the pair to return to court on June 15 for an adjourned plea and trial preparation hearing.
