Preparations are taking place on the project to build a brand new home for James Corden and his family in Berkshire.

Mr Corden is preparing to come back to the UK after living in Los Angeles while hosting The Late Late Show on American TV channel CBS.

There are indications that he has been preparing to reside in England long term for years, with him purchasing Templecombe House in Remenham in Berkshire in 2020.

Templecombe House is a unique looking C-shaped home with an attached pool house, tennis court and a Druidic circle, which was brought over from Jersey to Remenham by former landowner Field Marshal Henry Seymour Conway.

Earlier this year, his agents Atlantic Swiss Agency successfully applied to knock the home and pool house down and replace it with a new mansion.

However, in order for the project to go ahead, a section 106 legal agreement between Mr Corden’s agents and Wokingham Borough Council, the local planning authority, must be agreed.

A spokesperson for the council said the S106 agreement for the Templecombe project has been drafted and is being reviewed by planning agents for Atlantic Swiss Agency.

The spokesperson said: “Once that’s been agreed and signed, we’ll be able to issue a decision notice.”

The project was approved by Wokingham Borough Council’s planning committee subject to a S106 agreement and a number of conditions being adhered to.

When the agreement is made, Mr Corden’s agents must then submit planning details to the council.

The most important document for the first stage of the project is the construction environment management plan (CEMP), which will determine the conduct of the house demolition and the construction of its replacement.

At the time the decision was made, Templecombe House had fallen into dilapidation, with urban explorers hopping over the gates and filming inside the house in March 2022.

The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) asked Mr Corden’s agents why demolition and replacement of the existing house was chosen, what motivated the family to move near Henley, and when the family will be taking up permanent residence in Remenham.

However, an agent replied that all of these details are private.

It is unclear which of Mr Corden’s agents are in charge of the project going forward.

While Atlantic Swiss Agency submitted the application, an LDRS enquiry was directed to Daw Bell public relations firm.

Initially, the plan involved the construction of a new pool house south west of the main house.

However, the pool house element of the plan was dropped following objections Historic England and the council’s conservation officer, which objected to its proximity to the Druidic circle.

While a separate application for a new pool house is expected, no plan has been submitted so far.

Mr Corden is an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, and is, therefore, an OBE.
