Ten of your precious pets have been shortlisted as finalists for the Oxford Mail Perfect Pet competition.

Last month we invited people to send in photos of their pets to be in with a chance of winning a £50 prize.

Now, after Oxford Mail readers voted for their favourite pets, nine dogs and one cat have been shortlisted.

Carrie Townsend, from Witney, sent in a photo of her Cockapoo Alfie.

She said: “He’s an idiot but his temperament is so good and so loving gives the best cuddles and makes us laugh every day.”

Other finalists include Raymond Tinson’s dog Alfie, Stacey Hopkins’ dog Baxter, and Shelley Forsyth’s cat Holly.

Ms Forsyth, from Bicester, said: “She’s our delicate deaf little old lady approaching her 20th birthday!”

Mr Tinson, from Abingdon, said: “Alfie takes care of his elderly mum and dad!”

Oxford Mail:

Ms Hopkins, from Wantage said her dog Baxter was ‘always outgoing, fun, and loves to play’.

She added: “He always brings a smile to my face because he’s so cheeky!”

You can post your coupon to: Oxford Mail, Richmond House, Unit 1&2, Edison Park, Hindle Way, Swindon, SN3 3RB.

Photocopies of the coupon or illegible copies will not be accepted.

And readers are reminded that there is only one vote allowed per coupon.

Georgina Harkins, from Didcot, sent in a photo of her dog Rosie, a Romanian rescue cross breed.

She said: “Rosie was found dumped on the streets starving and severely unwell at roughly two months old.

“She was then rescued and taken into the UK and adopted at six months.

“She was nervous and frightened when she first arrived and was terrified of everything.

“She will be two years old this summer and now she is thriving!”

The winner will be named the Oxford Mail Perfect Pet 2023, and the £50 prize will be on its way to one very proud owner.

There were 140 pet pictures featured in a special photo supplement. The closing date for coupon postal entries is Sunday, May 21

The competition was launched to coincide with National Pet Month.

A campaign ran throughout April to celebrate and raises awareness of responsible pet ownership through educational campaigns and resources across its various platforms.
