The University of Oxford is one of the largest emitters of carbon dioxide among the universities of the UK.
New research conducted by Utility Bidder, a service offering advice on how to switch energy suppliers, has analysed the total carbon emissions for each UK university alongside the university’s student enrollment, to reveal the institutes producing the most carbon emissions per 1,000 students.

The University of Oxford featured in 3rd place, emitting 1,747,047 tonnes of carbon per 1,000 students.

The research also revealed that the university is within the top 3 highest emitters of carbon dioxide for business travel, emitting 710 tonnes of carbon per 1,000 students. Additionally, the research shows that Oxford Brookes University produces more waste carbon emissions than any other UK university, emitting 363 tonnes of carbon per 1,000 students.
