In no particular order, here are the top 10 companies you have asked for.

  1. The Range - Many readers pointed towards the everyday essentials store. The chain retailer sells home, garden and leisure products, including furniture and kitchen equipment.
  2. Home Bargains - Another popular choice among readers was the budget retailer. The store sells branded general merchandise at low prices, with product categories including household goods, food, clothing and toys.
  3. Ikea - The Swedish giant offers fantastic flat-pack furniture, but people have to travel all the way to Reading or Milton Keynes to grab some household goods. Having a branch in Oxford would make it much easier to feast on those meatballs as well.
  4. Lego Shop - Many people pointed out there are not a lot of shops aimed at young children in the city centre and the addition of the popular company would be a welcome addition.
  5. Smyths Toy Shop - Following on from this, some readers also said that the toy superstore chain would be gladly received. The store sells indoor and outdoor toys, plus bikes, nursery equipment and video games.
  6. Morrisons - The nearest Morrisons to the city is in Carterton with readers hoping for a closer store to the city centre. As of 2021, the company had 497 supermarkets across England, Wales and Scotland but not one in Oxford. Oxford Mail: Morrisons has revealed a return to quarterly sales growth for the first time in two years (Ian West/PA)
  7. Matalan - The return of Matalan would be most desirable according to some. The clothes retailer closed down in recent years to the sadness of some who would not be disappointed to see it back again.
  8. Asda - Oxford does home an Asda Living which sells the store's non-food ranges but our readers said they would also like to see a traditional Asda open its doors in the city.
  9. Nike – Many would like to see the popular sportswear brand open in the city centre. Nike has been associated with sporting stars such as Tiger Woods as well as various high profile sporting teams and readers want to see the sportswear giant open a superstore close to home.
  10. Build-A-Bear - Another shop for the kids, the store lets you customise your own stuffed toy. Customers go through an interactive process in which the stuffed animal of their choice is tailored to their own preferences.
