Sir - While many of us applaud Ian Hudspeth, cabinet member for transport, Oxfordshire County Council, for his statement in his recent letter (Safer city for cycles, June 13) "we do want to make clear our intention to work together to improve conditions for cyclists in Oxford", can we also be assured that maintenance of cyclepaths also becomes a priority?
Rarely are they swept clear of debris, if ever, and to have as much glass on these cyclepaths in this "established history of cycling" is akin to Network Rail never servicing the tracks.
Breakdowns and delays become the inevitable norm!
Cycling in Oxford is one of life's great little pleasures; a little housekeeping could keep it that way.
