Next Friday is National Tea Day and to mark the occasion a shop is offering everyone a free cup of tea.

National Tea Day falls on Friday, April 21, and between 11am and 12pm in Oxford city centre Bird and Blend Tea Co. will be offering free tea.

The tea shop on the High Street just outside Covered Market sells over 100 blends of tea and customers can request an iced tea from tea mixologists.

A spokesman for the shop said: “Every day is tea day at Bird and Blend Tea Co but Friday 21 is a nationwide British celebration of just what tea has to offer."

In the UK, it is estimated that nearly 36 billion cups of tea are consumed a year.
