ORGANISERS of a village after-school club are appealing for help in finding a new permanent home.
Maria Wilkinson, co-ordinator of the John Watson After School Kids' Club, based in the youth club in Littleworth Road, Wheatley, said the club was desperate for more space.
As the number of children attending the club had grown so much in the past four years, Ms Wilkinson said using the youth club was no longer practical.
She said: "The club started in 2002, but we have been using the youth club since 2004.
"But we are just one of the many users of the club and we have so many more children coming to the club we are getting pushed for space.
"The majority of kids that come to the club are disabled and require specific items bringing into the club, and the problem is we can't just leave them out.
"When the club ends we have to pack stuff up into storage because other people need to use the club, and we aren't able to store some of the stuff on site.
"What we would love is to have our own place, where we could keep the stuff we need all the time, without worrying about having to clear it away."
Ms Wilkinson said they were now appealing for anyone with a suitable building to contact them.
She said: "Ideally we would love to stay in the Wheatley area, but we aren't ruling anything out and we are prepared to listen to all offers.
"Obviously it would be great if the building had disabled facilities, such as toilets, but that is something we could look to get funding for to refurbish."
Ms Wilkinson said the club was unique to the region and very well used with more than 100 children registered, some coming from as far away as High Wycombe to attend.
However, she was quick to thank the youth club for all its help.
She said: "The youth club has been fantastic and we couldn't have got this far without them. It's just got to the stage now where we feel it is time to find a home of our own."
Sallie Walker, who is also involved in running the kids' club, agreed that it was time to find their own building.
She said: "The situation we are in now will be an ongoing thing until we find our own home. The added pressure of having to ferry equipment to and from the youth club and clear stuff away afterwards is creating a lot of extra work for us."
