A beloved cat is back with his family in Abingdon following a 10-day search.

Karen Vivian said Stampy, whose name refers to a character from the computer game Minecraft, disappeared earlier this month.

Ms Vivian, who lives with her husband Andre and two sons Ayaan and Keedon, put a post on Facebook alerting people that the cat was missing, and also put signs up in the street.

She searched the area every day near her home off Ock Street but without any luck.

Then, after 10 days, someone on Facebook contacted her to say a ginger and white cat fitting Stampy's description had been spotted on a doorstep near the Tesco Express off Wootton Road.

Ms Vivian rushed over and was reunited with her eight-year-old cat.

Oxford Mail:

She said: "We live by the River Ock so we were worried that he had fallen in the water when there was a lot of flooding.

"But he was actually found by the Tesco Express about a mile away from where we live.

"He's gorgeous and unfortunately it's left a little girl crying because she was looking after him when he was missing.

"We are all very pleased to have him back."

She added: "We were out every night and most mornings looking for him.

Oxford Mail:  "We made flyers and put them through neighbours doors twice and obviously we put up quite a few posters on lampposts.

"The family saw my post on Facebook and rang me to say they thought they had him."

Stampy is also the nickname of YouTuber Joseph Garrett, known for his video game commentaries, including those on Minecraft.

"We used to watch Stampy on YouTube," Ms Vivian added.
