Commuters hit by the closure of the Oxford to Didcot rail line have been told there will be an update ‘in the next few days’.
The line’s closure follows the discovery of large cracks in the Nuneham viaduct, which carries the main line over the River Thames east of Abingdon.
Network Rail said its engineers were continuing to carry out repairs on the bridge, which remains shut over the bank holiday.

The organisation said last week that the line was expected to stay closed until at least the end of April.
However, there are suspicions that it could be closed for longer.
An update apparently posted on a secure system, Tyrell Check, used by train companies to inform each other of delays seemed to suggest that the line would be closed ‘until mid June’.
A screenshot supposedly showing the warning was shared to social media by BBC South’s travel correspondent Paul Clifton.
When the Oxford Mail attempted to confirm the mid-June date with Network Rail on Sunday (April 10), a spokesman said an update will be issued later this week once engineers had completed their assessments.
