Engineers are currently surveying the bridge to determine the extent of the damage.
According to Great Western Railway, the extent of the situation will be made clear later today once the engineers have completed their work.
There have been reports on social media that the track could be closed for three weeks.
But a spokesperson for Great Western Railway denied this, suggesting that they were still awaiting the report from the engineers.
