A road was closed in central Abingdon today (March 30) for emergency repairs to be carried out.
Vineyard (A4183) was shut at the junction with Abbey Close while workers tended to a collapsed manhole.
The manhole was located in the middle of the road.

The workers were contracted by Thames Water.

As a result of the road closure, the Oxford Bus Company was forced to divert its services that use the route.
The X3 buses travelled along Northcourt Road and Wootton Road into Stratton Way in both directions.
Whereas the 35s followed the normal route to Our Lady’s then travelled along the Oxford Road, Northcourt Road and Wootton Road.
Councillor Nathan Ley who represents the Abingdon North division on Oxfordshire County Council offered advice to motorists throughout the day.
