The Michelin Guide 2023 for Great Britain and Ireland was released on March 27.
The guide is produced by the French tyre company Michelin, which has been going since 1904.
The guide most famously awards stars to a select few restaurants, but it also includes a broader list of excellent eateries.

Here are the 17 Oxfordshire restaurants that made it into the Michelin Guide 2023.
Arbequina
Location: 74 Cowley Road, Oxford, OX4 1JB
Cuisine: Spanish
The guide states: “A simply furnished, bohemian tapas bar: sit downstairs by the vintage stainless steel counter or upstairs in the bay window.
“The concise menu offers tasty, authentic, filling tapas dishes; three plus dessert is about right.”
Muddy Duck
Location: Main Street, Hethe, OX27 8ES
Cusine: Modern British
The guide states: “The large wood carving in the garden of a duck in green wellies tells you that this is not your usual country pub.
“You enter into a lovely rustic bar known as the The Lodge, which comes with an appealing menu of British and Mediterranean influenced dishes.
“Service is warm and welcoming, and they cope well with the numbers.”
Sir Charles Napier
Location: Sprigs Holly, Sprigg’s Alley, OX39 4BX
Cuisine: Modern British
The guide states: “The kitchen makes good use of quality ingredients to create dishes whose flavours are punchy and pronounced.
“The wine list is a labour of love.”
The Yurt at Nicholsons
Location: Nicolson Nurseries, The Park, North Aston, OX25 6HL
Cuisine: Modern British
According to the guide: “If you’re after something a little different, head to Nicholsons Nursery to dine in this yurt- which is fashioned from upcycled materials.
“Unfussy modern dishes comes with bold flavours and Mediterranean influences.”
Pompette
Location: 7 South Parade, Summertown, Oxford, OX2 7JL
Cuisine: French
The guide states: “An experienced chef and his welcoming wife proudly run this modern French brasserie.”
Bistro at The Boathouse
Location: Station Road, Henley-on-Thames, RG9 1AZ
Cuisine: Modern British
According to the guide: “Take in the Thames views through the floor-to-ceiling windows or from the lovely decked terrace complete with heated pods.
“Unfussy dishes are skilfully prepared and see the likes of soft shell crab rubbing shoulders with steak and chips.”
Orwells

The Michelin Guide states: “This 18th century building may look like a rural inn but inside it has a modern, formal feel.
“Creative cooking uses top quality produce and flavours are pronounced.”
Bottle & Glass Inn

The Michelin Guide describes the restaurant as a pretty thatched pub that offers refined but unfussy food.
Killingworth Castle
Location: Glympton Road, Wootton, OX20 1EJ
Cuisine: Traditional British
The guide describes Killingworth Castle as an attractive roadside in that is run by a cheerful team.
In particular they note the homemade breads and organic produce at the restaurant.
White Hart
Location: Main Road, Fyfield, OX13 5LW
Cuisine: Traditional British
The White Hart offers seasonal dishes prepared using ingredients from their kitchen garden with influences ranging from Britain to the Mediterranean.
Lamb Inn
Location: Steep Hill, Leafield Road, Crawley, OX29 9TW
Cuisine: Modern British
The guide states: “The hub of a pretty stone-built village, the Lamb Inn is a charming place with an open-fired bar and a quirky dining room complete with a set of armour.”
Chequers
Location: Church Road, Churchill, OX7 6NJ
Cuisine: Traditional
Chequers is set in the heart of a Cotswold village and is a vital part of the local community.
Minster Mill
Location: Minster Ridings, Minster Lovell, OX29 0RN
Cuisine: Modern British
The guide states: “This characterful, oak-beamed restaurant is set in a charming Cotswold stone building surrounded by beautiful gardens with a river running though them.
“The modern British dishes come with a creative touch and are prepared with care, letting the natural flavours and textures of the ingredients shine through.”
The Wild Rabbit

Bell Inn
Location: Langford, GL7 3LF

The guide states: “The Bell Inn’s rustic charm is hard to resist with its cosy bar, impressive inglenook fireplace, stone walls and 16th century origins.
“The appealing menu offers a mix of pub favourites, restaurant style dishes and homemade pizzas, which are brought to the table by a friendly team.”
