The care team organised the visit as a surprise and Ms Shewry’s son David said the visit brought back happy family memories.
David said: “Mum enjoyed the visit from Mya, who is 14 years old so almost 100 in dog years.
“Seeing Mya brought back lots of happy memories for mum and Ann Latham, the volunteer from Pets as Therapy, who brought Mya to see us.
“They talked a lot about their love of dogs and shared photographs of Ann’s other dogs.”
Ms Shewry used to have a Jack Russell named Dinkie and she explained that the dog was notoriously “naughty” and “used to get into bed with me as a child”.

Ms Shewry also owned a wire-haired fox terrier called Monkey, a golden retriever called Dinah and Toksy who was a cross between a Border Collies and a Chow.
Ms Shewry’s family adopted Toksy after a visit to the Lake District.
Ms Shewry said: “Our family used to go on holiday every year to a farm in the Lake District, and one year one of the farm dogs had a litter of puppies.
“As a cross-breed, the puppies were no good as a working dogs with sheep, so we adopted Toksy and took her home with us, where she lived happily for 15 years.”
David said his mother “really appreciated” the surprise visit and enjoyed meeting both Mya and Ms Latham.
