Oxfordshire road closures announced by National Highways

The following list is provided by National Highways so it does not include the closures of smaller roads.

National Highways is responsible for the maintenance of motorways and major A roads.

Oxford

There is one closure already in place that is expected to carry on this week.

• A34, from 6am August 1 2022 to 11.59pm September 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound and southbound, Peartree Interchange, Lane closures on the exit slips for Oxfordshire County Council works.

Cherwell

There are three closures already in place that are expected to carry on this week.

 • A34, from 5am March 19 to 9am March 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound, Peartree to Wendlebury, Lane closure for litter picking.

• A34, from 8pm February 13 to 6am April 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, Weston on the Green, Lane closures for drainage work.

• A34, from 6am August 1 2022 to 11.59pm September 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound and southbound, Peartree Interchange, Lane closures on the exit slips for Ofordshire County Council works.

And a further 23 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M40, from 9.30pm March 20 to 6am March 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 10 to junction 11, Lane closures for maintenance work.

• M40, from 9pm March 21 to 5am March 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 11 to junction 10, Lane closures for communication works.

• M40, from 9pm March 21 to 5am March 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 10 to junction 9, Lane closures for maintenance work.

• M40, from 9pm March 21 to 5am March 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 10, carriageway closure for communication works, diversion via National Highways network.

• M40, from 9.30pm March 21 to 6am March 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 8a, exit slip road closure for maintenance works, diversion via National Highways network.

West Oxfordshire

West Oxfordshire's motorists will have five road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

But the news isn't too bad, with all of them only expected to cause slight delays, of less than 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures are due to start this week:

• M40, from 9pm March 21 to 5am March 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 11 to junction 10, Lane closures for communication works.

• M40, from 9.30pm March 22 to 6am March 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 11 to junction 10, Lane closures for maintenance work.

• M40, from 8pm March 30 to 6am March 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 11 to junction 10, Lane closures for maintenance works.

• M40, from 9pm March 30 to 5am March 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 10 to junction 11, Lane closures due to maintenance works.

• M40, from 9pm April 2 to 5am April 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 11 to junction 10, Lane closures for maintenance works.

South Oxfordshire

South Oxfordshire's motorists will have 14 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing a holdup of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M40, from 8pm March 19 to 6am March 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 6 to junction 7, Lane closures for maintenance work.

• M4, from 8pm October 31 2022 to 6am March 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 12 to junction 11, Lane closures for M4 Smart Motorways.

And a further 12 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M40, from 9.30pm March 21 to 6am March 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 7 to junction 8a, Lane closure for maintenance works.

• M40, from 9pm March 22 to 5am March 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 7 to junction 8, Lane closures for maintenance works.

• M40, from 9.30pm March 24 to 6am March 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 7 to junction 6, Lane closure for maintenance works.

• M40, from 9.30pm March 24 to 6am March 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 7 to junction 6, Lane closures for maintenance work.

• M40, from 9.30pm March 24 to 6am March 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 6 to junction 7, Lane closure for maintenance works.
