A man was approached by a supposed charity worker who stole £200 from his wallet while he was donating.

The charity worker struck up a conversation with the victim in Marriotts Walk shopping centre car park in Witney.

The victim had just left the cashpoint and returned to his car.

While he was donating, the fake charity worker showed him some information on a clipboard, using it to cover up the man's opened wallet.

He then took the cash from the victim.

The man did not realise until he got home.

TVP West Oxfordshire posted on Facebook: "You may be thinking how is this possible? The people who operate these scams are very well versed in distraction tactics and are clearly good at what they do."

PCSO Moulding said there have been similar reports of distraction thefts in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.
