Summertown baker Julia Atkinson has been supplying the cast and crew of ITV's Endeavour series for the past decade.

She runs Happy Cakes in Summertown, which makes cup cakes and brownies and cakes to order.

Each time Endeavour has been filming on location in Oxford she has been invited to go along and bring some cakes with her so they can be shared out on set.

So it was not surprising that she got a special mention in the ITV documentary about the Inspector Morse and Endeavour franchise on Sunday, which followed the last ever episode of Endeavour.

Oxford Mail:

ITV said series nine is to be the last and Morse author Colin Dexter, who died in 2017, said in his will that Shaun Evans should be the last person to play Endeavour Morse.

Ms Atkinson said: "I’ve been baking for the cast and crew of Endeavour since I first stumbled across them nine years ago.

"They have always been so friendly and welcoming and I’ve spent many happy hours skulking in corners watching the filming.

"They are always happy to see me arrive with some homemade goodies and usually send a group message out to say 'the cake lady has arrived'."

Oxford Mail:

She added: "At the end of every season I’ve always baked them a special large themed cake.

"It was fun having ITV in my house for three hours last summer filming me making it and following me delivering it to the cast and crew at New College.

"Roger Allam said lots of nice things about it in the Morse documentary and apparently he took the icing figure of himself home.

"Watching Endeavour filming has been a lovely part of my life for quite a long time so I’ll really miss them.

"I’ve made lots of lovely new friends along the way - and loads of great memories."

Oxford Mail:

Since 2009 Happy Cakes has baked thousands of cupcakes, cakes and brownies from its kitchen in Summertown.

The website says: "We only use free range eggs and the finest ingredients to ensure our cakes taste as delicious as they look.

"We accept orders from all over the globe and love delivering treats and cheerful messages on behalf of our customers.

"We offer free delivery in Oxford for orders over £30."

The Happy Cakes manifesto is to 'make life a little bit more delicious and a lot more fun.'

The cake maker has sweetened the day of a few famous faces, including Kiefer Sutherland, Gary Barlow, Miranda Hart, Michael Ball, and lots of musicians and bands.
