A beloved 150-year-old funfair will be coming back to Bicester this year and the owners have made an effort to make it as affordable as possible despite the cost of living crisis.

Hatwell’s Funfair will be setting up on Keble Road Recreation Ground in Bicester on Monday, March 20, and opening to the public from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26.

The fair will deliver all the classic thrill rides, including the waltzers, dodgems and twister, along with fairground food like candy floss, hotdogs, burgers and donuts.

Kerry Williams, owner of the fair, said: “It’s great family fun. People can get out in the fresh air, and there’s something for all ages, from two to 92.

“Entry is free. Families can come and soak in the atmosphere without spending a penny. Tokens for rides can be bought on site so people can choose to do whatever they want.

“Because of the cost of living crisis we have also taken the decision not to put our prices up from last year, despite the fact that the expenses have gone up astronomically.

“We want to try and keep it affordable for as many people as possible.”

The fair will be open from 5pm until 9pm on Thursday and Friday, 1pm to 9pm on Saturday and 1pm to 6pm on Sunday.

Mrs Williams is the sixth generation of her family to run the fair.
