In the final moments, Endeavour left Blenheim Palace following choir practice in a black Jaguar, driving past John Thaw's iconic red Jaguar.
As he looked in the rear-view mirror, we saw a glimpse of John Thaw's eyes as the older Morse.
Following the finale airing on Sunday director Kate Saxon tweeted: "Not had a chance to read every message about last night's Endeavour yet but I will! Thanks so much for your support.
"To celebrate the end, here's my next behind the scenes pic. The main men back together. Taken the day we shot their final scene."

In a heartbreaking dream sequence in the final episode Endeavour finally admitted his feelings for Joan Thursday, prompting her to passionately kiss the detective.
However, in reality Endeavour gives Joan a hug before she sets off on her honeymoon with his colleague Jim Strange.
The Inspector Morse spin-off Endeavour, focusing on Morse's early career, launched in 2012 and scenes have been shot on location in and around Oxford ever since.
Actor Shaun Evans tweeted: "A wonderful and worthy finale. Beautiful nod to Inspector Morse and his maroon Jag. None of our loved ones killed, but everybody´s heart broken. Now it´s time to let go, and cherish the wonderful memories. ´What did you say your name was?"
