A former air force base is planned to have over 2000 houses built under further development at the site.

The new Heyford Park development, by The Dorchester Group, would see 2,819 houses built and approximately 2,700 total jobs provided.

The group have owned the site since 2009 and gained initial consent for 1,075 homes, and now has a "strategic allocation" for a further 1,600 more.

The former United States 1,230-acre airforce base was previously used as vehicle storage and a processing site for nearly 16,000 vehicles.

Dorchester is currently developing its commercial estate with the site already providing over 1 million sq ft of industrial and office accommodation and close to 100 acres of concreted and hardstanding areas.

White Commercial Surveyors and Colliers International are marketing up to 50 acres of concrete hardstanding and buildings at Heyford Park and can now provide self-contained sites from two to 50 acres.

This also includes a number of buildings including aircraft hangers currently fitted out as a vehicle workshop with ancillary ground and first floor offices, a body shop with ancillary offices and stores, three further workshop and a driver waiting facility and a standalone two-storey office building.

Developer David Wilson Homes submitted an application in October to build 126 new houses on land at Letchmere Farm, Upper Heyford, in the RAF Upper Heyford Conservation Area.

The proposal stated that 30 per cent of the homes would be affordable, including 25 per cent as first homes.
