THERE'S a triple treat for folk music lovers in Oxford tonight with a show of acoustic magic featuring soaring anthems, beautiful voices, dance rhythms and lots of fun.
The night at the Jericho Tavern features Sam Twigg and the Sometimes Band, Oxford duo Larkspur and city group Vocal Spokes.
Sam Twigg and the Sometimes Band describe their captivating music as "original songs of love, apocalypse, and wine-soaked compromise".
With Josh Robson-Hemmings on guitar, Hannah Gray on flute, Tracey Rimell on harmonies, Colin Fletcher on bass, and Jane Griffiths on fiddle, they have a reputation for huge crowdpleasing tunes.
Larkspur are a folk duo comprising Giles Lewin on violin and Melissa Holding on accordion.
The virtuoso instrumentalists explore both traditional melodies and their own compositions, bringing a rare musical sympathy, lightness of touch and emotional depth to music inspired by folk traditions everywhere from Britain and Sweden to the Balkans.
Expect to move your feet to jigs, reels, waltzes and more.
Vocal Spokes are a new Oxfordshire group performing contemporary acapella arrangements of songs by artists ranging from Sia to Sigrid, Rag'n'Bone Man to Kate Bush.
Expect vocal versions of pop classics reinvented with groove and style.
- Sam Twigg and the Sometimes Band, Larkspur and Vocal Spokes play the Jericho Tavern tinght (Sunday, March 12). 7-11pm.
